After a lot of trouble I will not elaborate here, I finally got my Steadicam Flyer!
This thing is amazing. We quickly played around with Oscar and Vijay while recording everything. Here is a small video (2.6M, again you’ll need Quicktime 7).
As you can see on the results, I have a lot of practicing to do… But for my defense the sled was not perfectly balanced (and I’m even not sure I know how to do that yet), and we were not especially trying to get the best out of it. Just playing around while recording… But of course I was not trying to be that bad either
Anyway, this thing opens a lot of new creative choices for our next projects, but it needs a lot of practice. Hopefully it will even help me to lose some weights
When I was watching online videos about steadicam and stabilization system reviews (such as the one from Charle King on the steadicam Flyer), I was wondering why everyone was saying it takes months and years to master. Obviously it was simple, the guy was even playing around with any hands!
Well… Now I know why!
This is really sensitive, you really have to control it with you fingertips. Again… a lot of practicing ahead!
