Regular but Delicious Hot Chocolate

Posted on Wednesday 4 October 2006

Not really a recipe in itself, but a good example of how good quality ingredients can go a long way. There are only two ingredients but it’s very important to choose them carefully.

1. Get a good milk, such as the one from my last post about Good quality cooking ingredients

2. Pour a glass of milk and reheat for a couple of minutes in the microwave

3. Add a couple of tablespoons of a good chocolate mix (I use Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Mix), stir and you’re done!

Tip: Now, what if you’re not home and you want a good hot chocolate? Go to Starbucks and ask for a short hot chocolate. It’s not on the menu, it costs $1.95, it’s smaller than the smallest they have on the menu (the “tall”), but it has the same quantity of chocolate. It is therefore much more concentrated and taste a lot better. Very close to the kind of hot chocolate you can get in Europe. You can do the same trick with coffee, by ordering a short cappuccino for example, as already reported here (Starbucks Economics - Solving the mystery of the elusive “short” cappuccino) and here (’Product sabotage’ helps consumers).

Hehe, the Starbucks tip reminds me something… :)
I hadn’t seen this post yet, you’re right, very good hot chocolate.
