First Semester Results

Posted on Monday 17 March 2008

So far so good…

I finally got the temporary results from the first semester of Med’ school (temporary because it’s only 40% of the total, we still have the second part in May): Among roughly 2300 people I’m ranked 252 with only 377 places to fill. Which means I need to maintain (or improve ;) ) this rank if I want to make it through.

I knew I was going to get a bad grade in Biology because I didn’t get _the_ big conclusion we were supposed to find from all the experiences. But the grade was manageable enough to be compensated with Physics… So it’s not that bad, but it’s very tight. I would have had a more comfortable position if I didn’t mess up… There is only 8 points between me (rank 252) and the last meaningful rank (377). 8 points is really nothing… So let’s not jump into conclusions and let’s stay focused.

Anyway, here are my grades, if of any interests to you:

  • Anatomy: 17.1 / 20 (weight: 1)
  • Biology: 10.9 / 20 (weight: 2.6)
  • Chemistry: 13.6 / 20 (weight: 2.3)
  • Physics: 15.9 / 20 (weight: 2.3)
  • Average: 13.816
  • Rank: 252

We all are seriously exhausted and the pressure is very high. Working 7/7 all day, no vacations. You can’t even take a day off, hell a few hours off, without feeling guilty or fearing it means losing the rank you have.

It ends in 1 month and half, let’s just hope for a happy ending.

By the way, congrats to Pauline who did a hell of a good job too! And Miss I. doesn’t want to look at the results just yet :)
