The Numerus Clausus decreased this year…

Posted on Wednesday 30 January 2008

Overall, this year they increased the Numerus Clausus (the number of students admitted in the 2nd year of med’ schools) from 7100 to 7300.

So far so good (well, IMO, it’s not enough), but… they decreased the number in my university!! :( From 383 places last year to 377 this year, with roughly 2400 students fighting for the prize. So in case you were wondering, yes, any place is a big deal.

Here is the official paper:
Journal Officiel

They basically increased the regions where they are lacking doctors and decreased the numbers in the big cities. In other words they’re trying to force students to move to these “far away” places hoping that after 9 or 11 years of study they don’t move back.

But anyway, 377 places… let’s hope I won’t be ranked between 378 and 383 ;)

That sucks…
